The cost of plane tickets could rise from today when the first of two planned Air Passenger Duty (APD) departure tax rises takes place. These increases are being passed on to the passengers through an increase in ticket prices which bosses at Newcastle Airport fear could bring the loss of some routes from the airport as well as inhibiting the introduction of new routes in the future.
However Newcastle International Airport has been able to reveal some good news that a key link to Toronto has been secured after negotiations with the carrier Canadian Affair.
