Newcastle Airport receive great news for punctuality

Great news for those travelling to and from Newcastle International Airport. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have recently announced its latest punctuality figures showing that Newcastle Airport had the highest percentage of flights arriving early or a maximum of 15 minutes late.
The CAA monitored 10 of the UK’s top airport from April to June and Newcastle achieved a great 86% for scheduled flights. This is a marked improvement on previous years. Chartered flights had a 79% punctuality rate.
Newcastle International Airport’s operations director, Will Dougherty, said: “This is excellent news for the airport, our airline partners and, of course, our passengers. Making sure aircraft arrive and depart on time requires a real team effort.
“It is testimony to the hard work of colleagues right across the business that we are continuing to outperform the vast majority of other airports in respect of flight punctuality. I also hope it gives extra confidence to our customers, who can rely on a speedy and efficient service from their local airport.”
These figures show that Newcastle Airport is fast becoming one of the top airports in the country and is fast becoming a popular, important hub. The CAA report also showed that the average delay across chartered flights fell from 32 minutes in the 2nd quarter of 2008 to 19 minutes in the 2nd quarter of 2009.
These impressive figures also put Newcastle Airport in the top 75 destinations in the world for these punctuality reports. This has been great news for Newcastle Airport who, despite the tough economic climate, are having a great year.
