Posted on September 7th, 2009

Newcastle Airport are the first EU airport to trial a new scanning machine that can detect liquid explosives in hand luggage. The ultimate aim is to be able to relax the security on carrying liquids in hand luggage after the plot to blow up transatlantic airliners using liquid explosives. This comes on the day that 3 people were convicted of the plot.

The scanner is designed by Kromek, a Sedgefield based company.
