Plane bound for Newcastle Airport delayed after being partially dismantled
Posted on October 21st, 2009
A flight from Murcia in Spain to Newcastle Airport was delayed while the plane was dismantled due to a lost mobile phone. The Jet2 flight had not long landed when a passenger dropped their mobile phone which slipped out of sight into an air vent. As the phone was switched on airline bosses refused to allot the plane to fly until the phone had been located.
The cockpit area and the font row of seats were taken apart causing a delay of 3 hours. A spokesman for Jet2.com said “We always operate to the highest standards of safety and care and whilst it was no doubt inconvenient that people had to wait for us to retrieve the phone, any mobile or similar communications device that is switched on would need to be removed from the aircraft in order to ensure maximum safety for our passengers. We would like to remind all those travelling by air not to switch their phones on until they reach the airport terminal.”
If you are ever delayed at newcastle airport you can make use of a newcastle airport lounge at great prices.
